For over a century, AJC has advanced democratic values around the world by promoting pluralism, tolerance, and civil rights. AJC established the Judge Learned Hand Award in memory of the legendary figure, Judge Learned Hand, who was a senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1924 to 1951. The Judge Learned Hand Award honors members of the legal profession who embody these democratic values in their work to advance the principles of justice, freedom, and fairness.
