Welcoming Remarks from the Consulate General of Israel in New York |
Rabbi David Rosen is the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Jerusalem-based Director of International Interreligious Affairs and directs AJC’s Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding. He is a member of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's delegation for relations with world religions and is International President of Religions for Peace; Honorary President of the International Council of Christians and Jews; and the Jewish representative on the Board of Directors of the King Abdullah International Center for Interreligious Dialogue. He was part of the Israeli team that negotiated full relations between the State of Israel and the Holy See. In 2005, the Pope made Rosen a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great in recognition of his contribution to Catholic-Jewish reconciliation; and in 2010 he was named a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for his interreligious work.
Dr. Saba Soomekh is the Associate Director, AJC Los Angeles, and a lecturer at The Academy for Jewish Religion-CA. She received her BA in Religious Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, her master’s degree in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, and her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Soomekh teaches and writes extensively on world religions, women and religion, intersectionality and its impact on the Jewish community, and the geo-politics of the Middle East. She is a participant in the 2021 Fellows Program at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue.
Christopher White is the national correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter. He holds a master's degree in ethics and society from Fordham University and a bachelor's degree in politics, philosophy, and economics from The King's College. His work has appeared in Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Forbes, New York Daily News, International Business Times, among many other print and online publications.
