- Day 26 Hostages Update: Celebrities Spread Stories of Hostages
Since more than 240 people were taken hostage into Gaza by Hamas terrorists, celebrities including Amy Schumer, Julianna Margulies, and Billy Crystal have taken part in a #ReleaseTheHostagesNow campaign on social media. Even in the face of backlash and abuse, these big names have been undeterred in their efforts to tell the stories of the captives.
- Threat to the American Jewish Community Rising to “Historic Levels”
Yesterday, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told lawmakers that Hamas’ October 7 attacks have increased the threat of terror attacks against American Jews to “historic levels.” This warning comes after a Cornell University student was arrested and charged with a federal crime for his posts threatening to kill Jewish students and attack the campus's kosher dining hall.
- Foreign Nationals and Injured Palestinians Cross Border Into Egypt
Following a deal brokered by Qatar between Israel, Hamas, and Egypt, in coordination with the U.S., beginning today, hundreds of foreign nationals and injured Palestinians have started crossing Gaza’s Rafah border into Egypt. As of this writing, 157 aid trucks carrying medicine, food supplies, and water have entered Gaza through the Rafah Crossing.
- Blinken Sets Israel Trip Plans, Comments on Gaza’s Future
On Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel for the second time since Hamas’ October 7 attack. He also plans to make other stops in the region. When speaking yesterday before the Senate Appropriations Committee, Blinken said that the most logical solution would be for an “effective and revitalized Palestinian Authority to have governance and ultimately security responsibility for Gaza.”
- War Update: 15 IDF Soldiers Killed
As of 3:00 p.m. ET today, 15 IDF soldiers have been killed in action. The IDF continues to focus on Jabaliya, a Hamas stronghold on the outskirts of Gaza City. According to the IDF, airstrikes in this area killed approximately 50 terrorists while also hitting apartment buildings in Gaza’s largest refugee camp. The current toll is unknown, as Hamas-reported numbers cannot be trusted.
