Today, exactly one month since the hostages were first taken captive by Hamas terrorists, AJC is on Capitol Hill with seven families whose loved ones are being held in Gaza. AJC is facilitating meetings and press conferences for the families of hostages alongside elected officials. Together, we are advocating for swift action to bring their loved ones home. As Israel marks one month since the October 7 massacre, communities around the country have organized events to mourn the 1,400 people murdered.
- March for Israel In Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday, November 14 — one week from today — join AJC and the Jewish and pro-Israel community at the March for Israel on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., at 1:00 p.m. ET. We’re aiming to bring together hundreds of thousands of advocates and allies to show the world that we stand with Israel, and we always will.
- Mark Your Calendars: AJC will be sharing additional details in the coming days. You can also find up-to-date information at MarchforIsrael.org.
- Jewish Israel Supporter Killed In Los Angeles
On Sunday, Paul Kessler, a 69-year-old Jewish Israel supporter, died after a protester attacked him at an LA-area rally in support of Palestinians. May his memory be a blessing, and may his attacker be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. AJC Los Angeles is in touch with law enforcement partners as the investigation into Kessler’s homicide continues. Jewish and pro-Israel community members have encountered violence in America and around the world over the past month. At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a student was arrested for punching a Jewish student and spitting on an Israeli flag during a vigil for the hostages.
- Entire Communities Across Israel Still Displaced
Across Israel, approximately 224,000 Israelis have been displaced by the war. Nearly half a million schoolchildren did not have school for the first three weeks of the war, and tens of thousands from the communities bordering Gaza and northern Israel still haven’t returned to in-class lessons.
- War Update: IDF Takes Down 11 Terrorists, Palestinians Evacuate to South Gaza Waving White Flags
Overnight, the IDF reported it arrested eleven Hamas terrorists in the West Bank. The IDF also reported intercepting a “suspicious aerial target” at the Lebanese border. Earlier today, the IDF opened a humanitarian corridor for Palestinians to evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip. As thousands of Palestinians walked south, waving white flags in the air, the IDF positioned its tanks and soldiers to protect the Palestinians from Hamas attacks.
