This timely conversation will be led by the Larry Gonzalez, Founding Principal of The Raben Group. A committed American Jewish Committee partner, Larry has been personally and institutionally invested in strengthening ties between the Jewish and Latino communities, and will discuss shared histories and values undergirding this alliance. Concurrently, he will address how at this critical juncture for our country, as minorities, Latinos and Jews are called to increase their joint advocacy in pursuit of common goals: strengthening American society’s democratic and inclusive fabric and combating hate speech and behavior including antisemitic and anti-Latino narratives and crimes. American Jewish Committee (AJC) has worked to build Latino Jewish coalitions at the local and national levels, reaching important milestones throughout the decades. But in this increasingly complex political and social context, what are some of the new frontiers in relations between both communities? How can we ensure that we are there for each other when our core values or identities are challenged?
This program is generously underwritten by a gift from the Malmud-Kravitz Family Endowment Fund. The fund seeks to further relationships between the local Latino community and the Jewish community through intergroup programing and outreach. |
